Please follow the cycle timing given at booking. Bring your fertility medication details and last menstrual period date. Bladder preparation depends on whether the scan is abdominal or internal.

This scan can assess the health of the uterus and ovaries before conception, estimate the likely ovulation window, and measure the thickness of the endometrium for assisted conception. It can also monitor follicle development and endometrial thickness before private IVF treatment in the UK or overseas, as well as confirm the presence and position of an intrauterine contraceptive device, such as an IUCD or coil.
A transvaginal ultrasound is required with consent for this fertility scan to provide a detailed assessment of the uterus, ovaries, follicles and endometrial lining. You may be asked to attend with a full bladder for an initial abdominal scan and then empty it before the transvaginal scan.
