"The Folate (Serum) test measures the level of folic acid (vitamin B9) in the blood. Folate is essential for red blood cell formation, DNA synthesis, and proper nervous system function. This test helps evaluate nutritional status and is commonly used to investigate causes of anemia, fatigue, weakness, or neurological symptoms. Low folate levels may result from poor dietary intake, malabsorption, increased requirements (such as during pregnancy), or certain medical conditions.
