A deep vein thrombosis ultrasound scan is a non-invasive examination of the leg to assess the blood flow in the deep veins, primarily to diagnose deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot within the deep venous system.
Indications to choose this scan:
- Unilateral or bilateral (single or both) leg pain.
- Swelling, redness or tenderness, particularly accompanied by risk factors such as recent post-surgery, prolonged inactivity or pregnancy.
